This year’s Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts (FCAM) Professional Development Conference was another astounding success. The event, this year taking place at the Worcester, MA DCU Center, showed an increase in attendance of approximately 100 attendees, including various emergency personnel from across New England. Specialty Vehicles, Inc. was very well represented by our own sales team, including Mark Hooper, Al Hooper, Paul Grondalski, Chad McCormack, David Pierce, and John Earnshaw.
Our staff had the pleasure of showcasing each of the vehicles below:
- Abington, Massachusetts’ Ford F-550 Type I Life Line ambulance
- Lebanon, New Hampshire’s Ford F-550 Type I Life Line ambulance
- Bridgewater, Massachusetts’ Ferrara Fire Apparatus Igniter Pumper
- Ferrara Fire Apparatus’ HD-77 aerial demo unit
- BME’s (Boise Mobile Equipment) International 4×4 Urban Interface demo unit
The FCAM Professional Development Conference marked our introduction and launch of the Boise Mobile Equipment (BME) product line. In the wake of the interest in brush and urban interface-type apparatus for which many fire departments are applying for FEMA grants, the launch was without a doubt a huge success. Brush trucks and urban interface-type fire apparatus not only provide defenses for brush and woodland fires but can also be utilized in foul weather, high-water events, and adverse road and weather conditions, as well.

As New England’s population grows and further encroaches on forests, the likelihood of large-scale forest fires continues to increase. News of devastating fires in places like California, Oregon, and New South Wales, Australia, have only emphasized the importance of fire safety preparedness in our changing climate. The response Specialty Vehicles, Inc. received regarding BME was very positive, with many fire chiefs and departments asking for more information for future planning purposes.
Specialty Vehicles, Inc. was also pleased to show a Ferrara Fire Apparatus Igniter Pumper from the Town of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, as well as an HD-77 aerial demo unit. Our longtime relationship with Ferrara Fire Apparatus is the result of their dedication to magnificent quality and service. Known for their powerful, customizable fire trucks, Ferrara consistently delivers on safety with its durable aluminum, galvanneal, and stainless steel fire bodies.

The Life Line ambulances displayed also attracted plenty of attention from attendees, including line staff, training officers, and command personnel. The Type I vehicle featured is one of our most popular and versatile options due in part to its vast range of customizability. All Life Line vehicles come equipped with an Elite G3Touch Electrical System, which includes a live, interactive, and fully-customizable 7” LCD touch screen, the largest screen currently on the market. We enjoyed speaking with attendees about Life Line ambulances and all that their various lines have to offer.

Specialty Vehicles, Inc. is honored to partner with manufacturers like BME, Ferrara Fire Apparatus, and Life Line, who each demonstrate unparalleled commitment to producing the finest and most reliable emergency vehicles on the market. We were excited to display such a great mix of apparatus and ambulances at the conference, and are all proud to be part of the FCAM organization and be a vendor sponsor of this fine group.
The planning and execution of these shows truly show a team involvement on everyone’s part. In addition to our sales team, our great group of technicians, and outstanding office staff including Dawna Lewis and Ashley Dufault, all contributed to the success of the 2020 FCAM Professional Development Conference.
